Introducing Beatrix Potter by Jim Shore! Created using artwork from The Tale of Peter with an added Jim Shore folk-art twist. Through this new collection The Tale of Peter Rabbit has been captured in Jim Shore’s classic style, creating brand-new, unique figurines.
So, who is Jim?
Jim Shore is a renowned award-winning folk artist who has been partnered with Enesco for over 20 years! He is best known as the artist behind the popular Disney Traditions and collections, in which he has blended popular Disney characters with his classic style creating beautiful new and exceptional figurines which are loved by fans all around the world!
Jim grew up in rural South Carolina, with artistic parents who instilled a love of the traditional images and values of American folk art. Surrounded by a family of quilters Jim is a huge fan of the art and has his own ever growing quilt collection, with quilts dating back over 150 years! His inspiration for his designs comes from his grandmother, a master quilter who taught him an appreciation for the patience and skill to bring beautiful intricate designs to life. Amazed by the skill and creativity of each quilt, Jim was inspired to create his own folk art-style inspired designs which are based on both American and European folk-art styles. Quilt blocks and design are a staple in his work and are included in each of his unique pieces of art! His designs are also derived from rosemaling, appliqué and flat perspective folk art, Jim creates authentic new works of art rooted in a shared heritage dating back generations and has received multiple awards from prestigious trade organizations including ICON HONORS Life Accomplishment Award in 2014.
As seen with Disney Traditions Jim keeps true to each classic character while bringing an element of folk-art magic to every new design. He is the ideal artist to help preserve the essence of classic characters whilst also creating something new and exciting by adding his famous folk-art flair, making him the perfect artist to adapt Beatrix Potter’s much-loved characters into a totally unique collection.
Jim Shore’s inspiration for this new collection came from a trip to the Lake District where he visited the countryside and studied Beatrix Potter’s fascinating History:
'I spent a good deal of time in the Lake Country of England, studying Beatrix Potter. She was a remarkable woman, an artist and writer of course, but also a scientist and conservationist. That range of interests and commitment drew me to discover more about her life and her work. And the more I learned the more enchanted I became.' Jim Shore.
From this trip Jim also visited the world of Beatrix Potter where he fell in love with each of the famous characters! Each character’s personality has been captured perfectly in this beautifully detailed collection. Artwork from the classic tales have been reimagined in Jim Shores famous design patterns featuring rosemaling details and of course there is a special storybook piece!
The collection embraces a number Beatrix Potter’s beloved characters including Jemima Puddle-Duck, Benjamin Bunny, Mrs Tiggy Winkle and Flopsy. We of course, also have two pieces of everyone’s favourite: Peter Rabbit, because one is simply not enough! And finally there is an extra special ‘Once upon a time’ Storybook piece featuring Mrs Rabbit and all her little bunnies: Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail and Peter, an adorable piece (this one is our favourite!) A lovely new addition to any Peter Rabbit fans collection or an adorable piece to decorate a Beatrix Potter themed Nursery. These pieces are truly beautiful and can be passed down through generations to come.
